I mean "sleepign rough" homeless and addicted to drugs not those who've lost their jobs.

My question is why do we seldom here of them dying by suicide? How could someone have hope in that situation especially at this time of the year with the rain, cold weather etc...

I propose that we eat the homeless as a solution to the crisis.

I think we should take inspiration from the US cities that "solve" their homeless problem by giving the people a one way ticket to LA or SF. We should round up the homeless, buy them a ticket to Malaga and give E50 each to get started with. Let Spain work it out.

Your hourly threads give them a reason to live.

Thats an idea, maybe they could work as firemen ?

Happens quite often, it's just rarely reported on.

Also you'll find the will to live is quite strong in people, even those with nothing.

Why can't the government round them up and put them in safe accommodation.

They are committing drawn out suicide, usually dulled by chemicals.

Suicides in general rarely get reported in the media. It's a policy adopted by most news organisations after it was recommended by suicide prevention bodies.

Research showed that when suicides were reported on the news, numbers of suicides went up afterwards.

Interesting. The same principle is true for suicide hotspots: Drawing attention to a place as a suicide hotspot leads to more people killing themselves there.

It is something that is often ignored by various groups in Limerick, where there is a very publicised hotspot.

Sometimes I think what would mr_fegelin do? And usually, look at the million threads on a million topics you have started and somehow you have the answer.

You're like quora and honestly my favourite thing about AH at the moment.

We have found ( working with homeless) that after a few months sleeping rough they get habituated and cannot cope indoors.
That is their free choice to make.

In the last severe winter they tried to section one lady . The street sleepers all vanished and who can blame them.

Also some of the hostels are not good places.
They are provided with all types of services but unfortunately some don't reach out.
