Cryptic crosswords

I've got some time off work and have decided to to finally give cryptics a proper go. Just a few days in.

Any advice? People say "get to know the setter".. Which would you advise that is online and good for a beginner?

I've been using an app called Learn Cryptic Crosswords and watching some Cracking The Cryptic on Youtube. Does anyone have other good interactive resources?

The 'original' (Derek Crozier) Irish Times Crosaire clues were fun once you got into them. I'm not at all a fan of any of his successors, I'm afraid. The above clue reminds me of Crosaire
