With all this hype on recycling I’m actively trying to do my bit but I’m having a hard time finding a place to recycle plastics ie juice bottles, milk bottles, plastic bags etc. Any help or guidance will be highly appreciated

The Co Council Civic Amenity site at Powerstown, Leighlinbridge is what you're looking for- good facility, takes the lot. Off old N9 road, R448.

I deliver clean plastic . Triple rinsed plastic containers ,seed bags etc to
    http://www.otoolecomposting.ie/ .
I asked what happens to it and my understanding is it is Shredded and mixed with wood chip and burnt in the Cement Factory . They do a certain amount of waste separation down there but the domestic black bag cannot be processed because of contamination .
Even in progressive countrys they are struggling to get plastic recycling near 10%.
The IFFPG Recycle a lot of Farm plastics and farmers pay a levy on the Bale Wrap plastic and have to have a product code when they purchase it and produce the code and pay a tonnage fee at the collection venues . I talked to a rep at a show and they recycle and process over 30000 tonnes of farm plastic . They even stockpiled Netwrap until they had a customer willing to purchase it . The plastic goes for making Bin Bags garden furniture and fencing . The Fencing stakes would use the more contaminated material with sand or grit in it .

Old Smokey in Ringsend and landfill is where most domestic waste goes .
This is a New startup in portlaoise

We are lucky because in most countries waste is controlled by the Mafia

This is the case with pretty much every piece of plastic recycled.
