Heating and hot water are not operating independently

    Hello forum,

This is my first post. I'm living in Ireland and I have a question about my apartment's hot water and heating which are not operating independently. They are operating only together which is increasing the gas bills.

The apartment has an "santon premier plus" unvented hot water cylinder, the "glow worm micron 50ff" gas boiler and an "apt timer clock".

Recently, I realized that my gas bills are increasing and I tried to understand why. As I understand the purpose of "apt timer clock" is to control the hot water operating time, however when I turn the timer off, it is turning off everything (pump, boiler, circulator) and the radiators are not working.

So, if I want to have heating (radiators) I need to have hot water on as well, all day long, which causes the boiler to turn on every 40-45 minutes for at least 5 minutes.

The ideal concept for me, as I understand it, is that the room thermostat is responsible for the heating (radiators) and the "apt timer" should be responsible for the hot water schedule to keep the water hot in the cylinder.

Is my understanding wrong? Is there an alternative solution to this or I have to keep it on all day long?

    Thank you!
