With Willie Penrose not running there'll be at least one new TD elected. Are the other 3 safe?

Longford gets fairly screwed being banded in with Westmeath where the Lions share goes to the 2 large towns. Net result the town is becoming a lower-class Rathkeale.

Add Monksland to the constituency of Westmeath and give Longford onto Sligo-Leitrim or Roscommon-East Galway and they'd have more chance of getting a TD and some assistance.

Gender quotas is the only reason. Boxer, Troy and Burke will get back in no bother. Between Carrigy and Flaherty for 4th then

Big surprise with SF topping the poll after Clarke lost her seat in the last local elections. Boxer in real trouble now as well, Troy and Burke should get through with transfers

Boxer was very quick to concede his seat yesterday. Apparently, “That's Athlone fault. It's not mine."
He really rubbed up a number of people the wrong way with his comments about council houses and that being a TD was "great craic"

Wasnt the best sentence to put out there but I would take it literally. But athlone is the largest urban centre in the constituency and possibly wont have a td although he is still in the battle. He was the best hope.for a td in the region a d was very active on the ground during the flooding which effected many. Of the four tds in the previous dail he came across as the one that done the most across the constituency and not just for athlone. I would hazard a guess and say he was more noticeable on the ground than troy or burke.
From a non #1 boxer voter in longford before anyone asks. And I wouldn't be the only one this side of the constituency that feels the same.

It's a tough constituency to retain a seat in it seems. The fact that Longford had no TD last time really hit home to Longford voters and they got out and did something about it. I was surprised Boxer didn't see that coming and I think he was complacent.
