Hi guys just wanting advice. I was a big gambler from the ages of 21-26. Won some lost some but lost more than I won.
Now I’m 31 and looking at going for a mortgage. Will this effect my application or will the banks even look back that far?
I have a 40,000€ of my deposit saved up and have a paper trail for it.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Banks usually only look for the last 6 months of savings. The guys over on this thread seem to be kept clued up for mortgages if you have a few questions:

The bank will check 6 months statements, maybe 12 if they see something they don’t like.

They’ll also do an ICB or whatever they’re using now (Central Credit Register?) so no harm in getting yourself a copy of the ICB and Central Credit Register reports.

    Hi DylanMurphy,

Thanks for reaching out to us her on Boards.

As Mortgages are assessed on a Case by Case basis this would need to be discussed with one of our Mortgage Specialists.

Our team can be contacted by phone on 01 611 33 33, please be assured one of my colleagues will be more than happy to help.
Alternatively, you can certainly book an appointment in your local branch to meet one of our Mortgage Specialists. I have attached a link here for weekday appointment, or here for Saturday morning meetings. Please note, Saturday venues can vary weekly so please keep an eye on this page for updates. Thanks, Aisling.

    Thanks, Aisling.
