Hi, I am wondering can anyone help me with my query. So basically me and my partner are looking to put a mobile home beside the parents house on the same land without having to get planning permission? We can connect up to their electricity and sewage etc. Thanks

    Planning required.
    Most likely refused.
Don’t invest any money now until planning sorted as you will loose it.

For a mobile home? I thought it would be easy enough as its small and can be easily moved. Why do you think it would be refused?

    Experience.

Is there any reason why you think it will be granted?
Any sites near you been granted? And applications on your council website been granted?

On Boards you're always told not to do it, but in real life people do it all the time, its illegal to do it without planning but theres just no enforcement in this country. If its beside a house nobody official is going to to say anything to you.

If you and your partner need a place to live then fuck what people on here say about the rules, as the poster above me said there is a good chance nothing will happen to you, also you could make sure it has wheels so technically it's a caravan and I've never heard of them needing planning permission.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. The most they could do is tell you to move it I guess. Thanks :)

Yes now your talking :P no I never heard of planning permission for it either but wanted to double check. Well they call it a mobile home for a reason as its "mobile" means it can be moved. Rent is just too expensive. Thanks

No point thanking people who say what you want to hear.
Wheels or no wheels is irrelevant. Planning still required and it’s will be your parents names on the Enforcement Notice.
