CE Scheme confusion

    Hi

I wanted to know, it says:
Since 3 July 2017, if you are aged between 21 and 55 years, your CE placement generally lasts for one year. However, if you are working towards a major award, your CE placement can be extended by up to 2 years to complete this award.:

What exactly constitutes a major award? I am about to begin a QQI Level 5 course shortly. Does that mean my placement can be extended by up to 2 years? I am not sure of how this works

    Thanks for your help.

For instance if your say doing a CE childcare placement you would get 2 years , which is spread 4 modules a year , following gaining your lv5 you could get an extension to do lv6 so in theory you could do 5 years on ce depending on situation and placement

This is not correct. The 2 year extension can only be applied once, to a maximum of 3 years on the scheme.

A major award can be at any level, and can be a specific major award or built up with minor awards.

Best person to ask is your ce supervisor
