Opel Mokka can't start

    Tried starting my mam's Mokka X today after sitting for around two months and it wouldn't start. Initially the dash turned on with warnings to check steering and a few other things and it wouldn't start. Then nothing turned on at all.

    Breakdown assistance out to jump start but nothing. Says battery is fine but nothing happening in the car at all.

    Alarm went off earlier and the headlights flickered a bit but that's it.

    Any ideas? Can't see much on the forums. It's a 172 1.4 petrol.

    She'll have to call Opel to see if warranty is still active as it's only 3 years...

    so breakdown assist just gave up? Not much help are they,. I reckon you need a proper mechanic but I'd also suspect the battery

    Batterys gone. Couple of months is going to kill that battery if its lying up.
    It is still under warranty until at least July but a battery only comes with 2 years if I remember right.

    There wasn't much he could do. His jump pack was showing the battery as healthy and when connected to the battery the car wouldn't start.

    I'll see about getting a new battery. I wouldn't have a clue about whether it would be the battery or not as I've never seen a battery unable to jump start.

    Another lad from the same breakdown crowd came out and used a little jumper pack which did the trick :rolleyes:

    The guy from last night also disconnected the battery and hooked up the jump pack directly, I wonder what the difference is with their packs.

    Voltages fine so no need to replace the battery just needs to be driven again. Air in the tyres and fresh petrol topped up, good to go. Now I can move her car to wash mine :P

    If the battery died on you once it’ll let you down again. Seriously, it’d be worth replacing it with a new one.

    I was under the impression that as long as a battery was a certain voltage it would be able to hold a charge again, if that's not the case I'll let her know.

    It doesn't see much use, so it probably will happen again soon...
