Cheapest New Cars ‘On the Road’ ?

Has anyone been doing their homework on this recently .Often seems that garages are asking more for one and even two year old cars than RRP of brand new ones ! Does delivery charge cancel ouT discount ? Anything in that range worth considering ? Up/Mii/Citigo looked good but gone .Fiat 500 could be got in €13k range not so long ago .

Bought a Toyota Aygo new in 2007 ,liked the revy three cylinder engine , acceptable ( just!) handling but hated cheap feel , no revcounter and mpg closer to 50 than advertised 60 and been blown around in side winds in motorway .Have driven Pandas 1.3d/1.1 and 100hp ( disliked the over rated last one - low side of 37-42 mpg , handling not that good )

Think I prefer low down smooth quiet torque of diesel , driving a Mini 2003 1.4d for last 18 months)but who doesn’t like trashing a petrol ( even /especially cheap small ones !) off the redline every now and then ?!

Suzuki Swift 1.4 Boosterjet looks nice ....

Can’t decide between more Bangernomics (but NCT is a curse !)
    Cheap new car
Nearly new ( ‘buY at 1 year and sell at 3 years ‘really best ?)
    Warm hatch 20k ish

Sorry for rambling post ,would welcome suggestions .Do 125km a day but practically zero urban .( Anddefinitejy don’t think you need a barge for the motorway or that small cars are for city only )

From your post it doesn't sound like you like any of the new cars in your budget. And since you're looking at them and considering them I think a big German barge is out of the question.
Look in the middle ground, golf, focus, astra etc....
Or if you want a left field suggestion how about something a bit nicer like an Audi a3 or BMW 1 series. Nice compromise there and the a3 saloon in particular is a beauty and its not a big car at all. You have the budget for a reasonably new one too by the sounds of it

You can buy a brand new basic Dacia Sandero for around 13k but I wouldn't fancy doing 125km every day in one though, personally I value my comfort and ergonomics higher than just having a brand new car for the sake of it.

Lovely car and they are supposed to be a lot of fun to drive.

Looks nice but wouldn’t be into auto ( and what’s with the strange multi block logo ? Is it a Subaru equivalent or some jap import ?)

Yes thats a pity that is an auto but maybe you could find a manual one. No idea if it is an import or not.
