A friend of mine is in the fortunate position to be getting a new company car this year, his choices are in the 5 series, E220, A6 bracket. If the choice was yours which would you go for? Is there other cars in this bracket? Btw due to mileage petrol, hybrid and electric are out. Thanks

    Depends on what he wants?
Traditionally the Best drivers car is the BMW, most comfortable is the Merc and the Audi is somewhere in the middle but they are all good cars and it really comes down to what he prefers sitting in or looking at. I’d take the BMW as I like driving but wouldn’t be disappointed with the Merc. I wouldn’t have the Audi as I have just don’t think they are on the same level as the others and the new interior with the twin screens is awful to use.
Mind you the next poster will probably say pick the Audi!

On this board, the next poster will say pick a Skoda...

High spec skoda - best of all worlds :-)

More seriously totally depends on what he wants, how how he will use it, family needs etc....does he care about servicing, will it go after 3 years etc etc...
If I was in his position the only "other" car I might look at is a fully spec'ed Peugeot 508. Don't think I'd personally buy one, but would consider for company car

Out of them three I would say the Mercedes. I was in an Audi A6 today and it was very disapointing for what is supposed to be a premium car.

The Peugeot 508 is a stunner and the dashboards in Peugeots is one of the best most modern dashs you can get.

You could look at the new Volvo S60 but again a very dull dash in them.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I would personally go for the new 5 series (G30) I think they are beautiful especially with a 3.0

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to him today and it’s a three year gig with servicing covered, he’ll be doing about 30k a year. He is arranging test drives but is leaning towards the bmw.

5 Series is getting a facelift around May which includes new tech and better standard equipment. May or may not influence his decision.

    Lexus ES or Jag XF...?

I will say that I haven't driven either, but if your friend is casting the net wide, then they might be worth a look.

Is the BIK on the Lexus Hybrid worth looking at?

If your friend is on the road a lot, is 4WD worth looking at? Range Rover Evoque...?

Merc I think. BMW are the best drive but aren't reliable and cost a lot to maintain.

Sounds like it's a Lease so.

A6 & 5 Series are pretty much the same cost each month, so nothing to sway it between those 2 apart from driver preference. E Class is working out more expensive on a like for like basis, by quite a bit so that swings a lot of customers away from that. BIK will be a bit higher on the Merc as well.

Left field option is the Volvo S90. Not a patch on a 5 Series to drive (still haven't driven a new A6) but very comfortable and loaded with Tech. If it's mainly motorway work involved in the 30k a year it's worth a look as it comes standard with Adaptive Cruise control that does most of the boring mile munching by itself.
