Should moving isp take over a month?

My contract with Pure Telecom was up (they didn't remind nor contact me), and the renewal terms they offered were poor value (inferior to what they offer to a new customer) so I decided to move isp.

Vodafone looked good so I went with them. That was on 10th December. I got a welcome pack etc. They've taken over the line and calls apparently. I realise taking over the bb takes a bit longer, and of course we've had Christmas and New Year but there's still no sign of the new router.

I managed to get through to an online chat last week who eventually told me the UAN was incorrect. It wasn't.

I also talked to a rep last Thursday who promised that the modem would arrive today by post without fail, and that they'd call me to ensure it had. Guess what? Neither happened.

The Vodafone at Home orders page now shows expected delivery as being tomorrow.

Is this a record for slow delivery? It's a simple takeover of an existing line and fibre bb service. At what point should I just give up and look elsewhere?

Usually switching from one provider to another will be done within a week. Maybe 2 at most. So at the moment you are paying Vodafone for Calls (Line Rental) and Pure Telecom for Broadband?

    That's what I'm thinking anyhow.

I got a text message from Vodafone this morning to say that my order was now complete, and that I should now connect my new router.

    Unfortunately I haven't received one.

Called them and after many apologies the the nice lady said they'd post another router. 3 days to deliver it. I explained the many delays and broken promises and that I'm now pretty much out of patience with Vodafone. More apologies. She said she had escalated my case and in the circumstances would have a Manager call me back. It didn't happen.

I'm starting to think that these guys are a actually a crack underground comedy organisation, and if that's the case they are doing a wonderful job.

I looked back on some details I've kept since I first contacted them on 10th December. So far they've:-

1/. Promised to call me back on 2 separate occasions, but haven't.
2/. Promised an engineer would be in contact. That never happened. Apparently I can self install.
3/. Claimed I'd given them an incorrect UAN. I hadn't.
4/. Claimed the router was in the local Vodafone store waiting to be picked up. It wasn't.
5/. Promised that the router would be delivered last Monday without fail. It wasn't.

Now if that's how they treat a new customer then god help an existing one!

I'm seriously considering calling it quits with this crowd of jokers. They are now saying a 2nd router has been posted (was supposed to be couriered originally) but I have my doubts.

The old internet router is continuing to provide perfect service, which makes me suspicious that the line has actually been transferred. I'm not sure how long this will continue.

Seems like a conclusion is now closer....."Vodafone will ship your product in the next 3 working days. To track delivery see www.anpost.ie ref: SXXXXXXXXIE".

    Text recv'd earlier.

    Here's hoping.

Well stone the crows it seems they tried to deliver a modem this morning. Unfortunately I am at work. Will pick it up later.

p.s. I'm assuming this is router #1. I may end up with a couple of them.
