Winter bib tights

I'm looking for a decent second pair of winter bib tights, for when it's close to 0 and maybe wet also. My current pair are DHB with windslam fabric and heel loops (love that feature!) which I find really good, but they're a few years old and I also ripped them a bit in a fall recently. DHB no longer make those unfortunately or I'd definitely pick up another pair.

I recently tried Galibier Mistral 2 Membranes but the sizing was way off for me so had to go back.

Any advice / suggestions appreciated. I'm around 188cm and 73kg, so something to suit the tall & skinny type!

I do like the Dhb FLT Roubaix, though they can be had for cheaper than present (last pair I bought a few months ago was abou £47). I've been out in zero degrees with them over the past month and they're grand, not really water repellent though. They have a "deep winter tight" as well, which might suit better (I don't have experience of them however - I've just looked at them online), though this is getting more expensive. I'm 182cm/87kg for comparison and last pair I got was XL though I'd probably get by on L

I'd been looking at the deep winter tight alright, though reviews are a bit mixed. I have something similar to the others already for slightly warmer weather, it's really for colder weather (and wet to a lesser extent) I'm looking for.

Sportful do a winter bin that is water repellant, I've not worn them though.

I bought the DHB Aeron deep winter bibs a couple of months ago and find the excellent so far but haven't been out on any extended spins in the rain in them as yet.

Have the dhb Aeron Deep Winter bibs, pretty good in wet weather, done a fairly wet 100k in them and legs were dry when i got home.

Only downside is they feel a bit heavy? Compared to the roubaix version, the water repellent fabric on them makes them feel a bit restrictive if that makes any sense.

i just bought a pair of these based on a review - bikeinn charge delivery to ireland but the saving overall makes it worth compared to other online sites. haven't been out with them yet but will this weekend.

They look like they don't have a pad though, right?
Add the comfort of a chamois by wearing them over your favorite cycling shorts.

    from the review

'The pad is really comfortable – sometimes I can get a bit of an outline on my backside and some chafing on long, soggy rides, but experienced nothing of the sort here'.

mine have padding - pic below from review on roadcc website i hasten to add.

OP, in terms of finding something that fits you might cast an eye over https://cyclinguphill.com/ Tejvan Pottinger, whose blog it is, is a former UK hill climb champion and I do remember that like yourself he's tall and skinny so was always on the lookout for gear that would fit and had the occasional "in use" review. Most of the stuff is probably a few years out of date at this stage, but might give you ideas of which brands are likely to fit

Thanks, unfortunately I can't see any review of tights at all in this having gone through all 10 pages!

I picked up a pair of the FDX thermal ones from amazon last year and they are pretty good for the money.

Have you looked at stolengoat? Their stuff looks very good. I’m hovering over some of their gear at the moment

I hadn't until now, thanks for the suggestion. I especially like the heel loop feature! Out of stock in my size though and they've said it'll be start of February before they're back in :(

I've ordered their deep winter tights in both medium & large, hoping one of them fits me well! Thanks for the recommendation.

And less than 24 hours later they've already arrived from Italy! Will try them later and see if they do the job.

Given the recent weather, I presume you have them well tested by now. Any verdict appreciated as my Mistral tights got pretty wet and subsequently cold yesterday. Which size did you hold onto?

I've only worn them on 2 spins so far actually! One of them a 100k with temperature hovering around 2 degrees for most of it. Kept me nice and warm, no issues with chafing etc so pretty pleased with them.
I held onto the medium, it rides up a little bit at the ankles on me (I've very skinny legs) but otherwise the fit is bang on. As an FYI the ankles are elasticated only, no zips, but I don't this has any real impact.

One thing is I haven't ridden them in the wet so far...

    Thanks for that.

Just checked their website and they seem to only have the 3/4 length tights in stock in the "mid-season" collection. Looks like the winter is over wherever they are based!

Yeah when I was buying I got in touch with them as they didn't have a large in the navy tights - they basically said it wouldn't be restocked this winter! Very odd, considering it was January...

I too had DHB Windslam bib tights and they were great and lasted for ever. To replace I got a pair of the below in middle of last winter and they are really, really warm ( I do audaxes 12 months a year). I see there is an water repellent pair costing a bit more.
