Have a mf 178 lying in yard rotting away. What scrap value would I expect to get?

How bad is it? I think they're still buying tractors like that for export....

If it was send into a scrap yard as metal about 400-1000 euro at a guess. If taken by a dismantler and there was parts on it maybe a bit with s thousand but hard to see a dismantler being interested to any great extent. Google and ring a few. Export was where the action was previously but the heat has gone from that as well

Weighing 3 tonne it hardly make that on scrap value , yard scrap was only 67 a tonne last year , not sure what it is now

Good original tin work might be worth more than the scrap value of the engine/gearbox/backend. take it off if you're selling for scrap, someone might be interested if they're restoring. Is it multi-power?

Have a look here, prices of parts sold on ebay

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=massey+ferguson+178+tractor&_sacat=0&LH_ItemCondition=3000&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&_sop=16

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Yard scrap and heavy scrap are different prices
Now you have the issues with the tyres on it but last time I sold heavy scrap it was 170/ton it's a few years back and it varies a bit. Light scrap is back at 50% or less of heavy scrap.
