Issue with Macbook Pro screen

I got a thirteen inch Macbook Pro last summer, brand new from Apple with a 500gb SSD.

I use it mainly for Pages, Audition, browsing and the odd Photoshop job.

Lately, I've been having an issue with the screen. I'm finding it impossible to explain to anyone so I can't even Google it. For less than a second, a thick bar (about an inch and a half) of black/green/purple pixels will flash on the screen. It's usually near the middle to bottom of the screen and it runs right across it.

It's not stuck pixels because it only lasts less than a second. It happens regardless of what software I'm running. I could go a few hours without it happening but it's happened three times in the last half hour (once while type this).

I don't know what it is. Has anyone any ideas?

What Macbook Pro is it explicitly? 13? 15? Does it have a dedicated graphics card?

Is your Mac updated to the latest MacOS update? I presume it is... Given it is so new I would be tempted to just say return it (after backing up all your data). If it is a hardware problem, returning it is the only solution.

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro which is still working pretty well apart from the fact that 50% of the time what should be white pixels are displayed in purple instead. When I googled this problem about 3 years ago, the common diagnosis was that it's the first sign your MB is on the way out.

3 years later, it's still useable and the purple pixels haven't worsened into a dead screen or something.

Thing is though - Mine was a 2010 model which I bought second hand in 2013. Yours is very new and you are the original owner. I'd be getting on to Apple and (politely) demanding a solution.

Or see if any of the solutions in this search result help you

It's the latest one, 2.4GHz Quad-Core Processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz. Not sure if it has a dedicated graphics card? It just says 'Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655.'

It's completely up to date so I'll back it up and bring it into a Compub in the next week.

Thanks a mil! I'll have a look now.
