Week 53 PAYE Modernisation

2020 is a so called leap tax year for those paid Wednesdays and Thursdays, previously those paid on week 53 received a refund of taxes due the following year when they submitted the old P21.

What will the situation be for this year under the PAYE Modernisation scheme? Will the week 53 automatically not deduct tax* or will it deduct and carry forward an automatic refund due under the preliminary EYS?

*My understanding is part of the modernisation scheme meant that tax/USC etc adjustments would be automatic on a week by week basis meaning on a week 53 payment the system should know no tax is due on that particular week?

Finally trying to remember does the week 53 exemption apply to just tax, or also USC?

Apologies for the bump, but week 53 is fast approaching and never got an answer, is there any guidance or is it a case of wait and see?
