Heres a new one on me
I have a 151 Ford Focus Zetec - that when I start the ignition the boot releases itself. It only started today no idea why its happening - obviously something a miss in the wiring or maybe the key is sending a mis-signal to the boot to open???

Anyone else out there experience anything like this????

If it's the same problem that the previous generation Focus had then it could be the boot lock. On the previous model water used get into the boot lock causing it to either constantly unlock or get jammed shut. Check the boot for dampness and if it's a hatchback then check around the rear windscreen wiper housing on the boot lid too. Otherwise as you said it could be damaged wire also.

I had a problem with a mk2 focus, every time I pressed the brakes the boot opened! If you remove the boot lining on the left hand side (passenger side) you'll find a wire harness plug check it for moisture or corrosion, I gave it a clean and dried it, that fixed the problem.

Will check it tomorrow for moisture - herself just informed me that when she was out it opened on the ignition but locked again when ignition went off... this is all I need when thinking of changing it!!!

Maybe check the wiring going to the boot door too.
