If I understand you, he has never met these women offline, but encountered them online at some point before you two became an item, and at some later point, after you had been an item for 6 months, they became instagram followers of his?

EDIT: I've never used instagram, so does instagram have 'friends' as well as 'followers', and if so, what's the difference and why would a person choose one over the other? Or is 'followers' just instagram's version of 'friends' or 'contacts'?

Was his instagram new or maybe those 3 women were new to instagram and it synced their contacts in their phones? It's unlikely with 3 different women I suppose.

Is he following them too? or is it just them that follow him?

I’d be deeply suspicious. Are there pictures of you two together as a couple on his insta?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 82 ✭✭Rosepetals85

I asked him out about it, he said that one of them he chatted to over two years ago so doesn’t know why she followed him this summer. I was like eh strange. The other one he first said he didn’t know who she was a few weeks back and when I said it again he said a mates gf although it’s not the same person although they would have a similar name.

No only one of him a year before he met me

    THAT IS WEIRD.

I never trust a guy who doesn't have pics of his gf visible on social media. Partic if they follow random women or random women follow them. Its odd.

Something else must be weighing on your mind to be posting about this now. They followed him last Summer and it's now January. Did something bring this to your attention?

I had said it to him before but it’s still niggling at me.

He only has one picture of himself though, acccording to OP. I have an instagram but theres no pics of me on it, its only for things I draw. So that really doesn't count for much. Would be different if he had loads of pics of himself and made out he was single. One picture of himself doesn't do that.

OP what do you think is going on yourself? Is it that you think he is still using dating apps and thats how these girls found him?

OP I'm sorry, I dont mean to offend you or anything, but it is really hard to follow what is going on here. I think it would help if you summarised things in the order that they happened. I'm not being pedantic it's just the way you're telling it I can't understand at all what's going on or what the issue really is.

My issue here is am I having the wool pulled over my eyes or am I overthinking this

All these women are from tinder

Hi op, I understand what you are going through. My OH is the same when it comes to posting pictures of us on instagram and facebook. We had a falling out about it over xmas with her texting and talking to people she met online. you do feel like they are keeping their options open or something. But we have agreed to work on it and i guess you have to trust your gut and what you feel from your OH

Thank you for your comment... he hasn’t spoken to anyone of these women since he met me or so he says because he knows I will hit the roof and I’ll be gone. I don’t tolerate crap like this in relationship. I have asked him again today and he has says he hasn’t spoken to anyone online since he met me.

I hope you and your partner can work things out. It’s a horrible feeling

We are both in are mid 30’s... his past has truly come back to bit him on the arse with all his dating apps

I might be in the minority here but I think you're making something out of nothing. Where he knows these women from is irrelevant. Unless he has a private Instagram account he can't control who follows him. I think you're totally out of order messaging the women, it's very controlling behaviour.

Do you have an issue with his female friends? Anyone else?

Thanks Rosepetals85, Its the unknown that`s the killer and it took my OH a while to realize how wrong and upsetting it makes you to be liking pictures and comments from people that they where potentially romantically involved with

I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot she would hit the roof.

Instagram sends notifications all the time saying such and such a person you know from another place has an Instagram yadda yadda yadda and women are obsessed with follower numbers and will no doubt add him hoping for a follow back. Her messaging you saying you she deleted his number pretty much vindicates him to most reasonable people. I think you should drop it and forget about it before you let your insecurities ruin your relationship

Why were you keeping tabs on who was following him in the first place? Is checking out who has recently followed him something you regularly do?

I only ask because I actually did this myself with my ex. We were together years and I never took any notice of who was following him/who he followed etc., until things started to go to sh*t and I started to lose trust. By the end of our relationship I was over analysing every online action he did, fearing the worst...Because by then the trust was gone and we were having huge problems offline.

So has something happened in your relationship to justify you tracking his online activity? Because if it has, then that's extremely relevant. But if it hasn't, then it sounds like this might be more of a posessive/controlling thing on your part and nothing to do with him.
