Friend is looking to sell off late father's Avensis.

Owned for years, don't know mileage but let's say 60,000 miles,

Hasn't run in a while but will get it running and a new Nct. Body work good, so I am told.

    What say ye?

You may get scrap value for it if he has the papers.

Unless it's a reallyreally low mileage time warp condition car with history to back it up just scrap value really. Insurance is the biggest issue if you want to run a car between 10 and 20 years old these days in Ireland.

Can I ask where the car is based please?

Has it been kept in a garage?
If so and the bodywork is good there may be a limited market especially with a new NCT.
Hard to say value without seeing.

Does classic insurance be much cheaper than say if the car is eighteen years old?
Is there a mileage limit per year for classic insurance policies?

    I have a 00 corolla with campion insurance. €240 tpf&t, 5000 mile limit.
You must have another insurance policy on your other/main car.

Yes. I know someone who was quoted €1800 for a 00 Yaris (has commercial van as well) and €300 for a 99 Yaris on classic policy.

Meh, new battery n tyres probably perished if lying up. E300 to start with. Brakes seized etc, then whatever the nct throws up. E60 + the retest. Guts of e500.
Will u get e500 for it, I doubt it.
E190 on done deal where it sits, anything you get over 100 is a bonus. (U'll have earned it dealing with eejits on done deal!)
