To be honest, I would never buy a Sharp 4k UHD LED smart TV for 2 reasons:
    - The input lag if you use for games it is not good.
    - The software of this TV is not the best around.

Stick with LG or Samsung, fast and reliable TVs with the best panels of the market and I just looked up on PCWorld you can find a 55 inches from LG with magic remote for 449 Euro. It is worth the extra money.
With LG you get satellite and aerial connections + magic remote and the software is great and have all you need like Netflix, Amazon Prime, RTE app, Now TV, Sky Store, Apple Airdrop 2 for Apple TV+, etc....
On the Sharp you won't get everything, maybe you can visit some shop and look with your own eyes the difference, it is big.

LG, Samsung make good midrange LEDs. Sony's high range are superb. Hisense make decent budget. The rest are mostly subcontracted to Vestel: Toshiba, Bush, low price Panasonic and Philips

I watch YouTube a lot and Samsung stopped YouTube a few years ago so I won't be purchasing Samsung tvs any more.

LG all the way for me.

Samsung stopped Youtube, what? Do you mean they stopped supporting your model TV or what? Obviously, YouTube still works on Samsung TVs.

New Samsung TVs have YouTube, maybe the model you have is older and it is Google that stopped supporting it.

In my case I wouldn't go to a Samsung TV for 2 reasons:
    - Lack of a satellite turner.
    - Old fashioned remote control.

LG give me satellite turner + aerial turner and the Magic remote that only itself is worth about 100 euro.

Screen quality and software are the same. For someone that does not bother to have another tv box only to get satellite signal and doesn't bother to use a very old model remote or pay about 100 euro to get the Samsung magic remote, then its fine.

Are you saying Samsung don't sell TVs with satellite tuners?

some of them do, just check the specs before buying

Sorry I probably should say "In this price range".
If you take the Samsung 4K TVs series 7100 and 7300 (curved) they only have Terrestrial connection for Aerial.
Only on the series 7400 that will start to show up the Satellite connection:
    https://www.currys.ie/ieen/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue55ru7470uxxu-55-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv-with-bixby-10191733-pdt.html

But then you will have to pay now with promotion 640 Euro, that is almost 2 times the price of the TV he was asking from Lidl.

Another problem with the Samsung that I just reminded now, they only have Wifi 2.4Ghz, no Dual Band AC 5Ghz.

That was another reason that made me go with the LG instead of Samsung, again, Top Of line Samsung normally over 800 Euro will have it, but as we are talking the entry level 4K tvs Samsung lack a lot of features compared with LG.

I got this LG in July when cost me 499, now it is going for 419 at PC World:
    https://www.currys.ie/ieen/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/lg-50um7450pla-50-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv-10191787-pdt.html

When I bought the TV the Samsung was about 50 Euro more expensive and lacking features, I remember the next level to me get some extra feature on the Samsung was only reducing the screen size to 43'' and getting a more expensive 699 Euro. I decided stay with the LG and I am very happy with it.

As I said, if it is not a issue the lack of features of the Samsung, it still a great TV. I just wanted the best option for the amount of money I was investing.

Same with all Smart TVs. My LG is no longer supported by LG. Its a good few years old now. you have to expect that with all smart TV's regardless of brand.

TVs that have some thing like Android OS might last a bit longer in terms of apps.

The only problem of it is that Sony is the only one pushing Android TV OS and is very expensive to get one that works properly as the low end ones are not powerful enough to run Android smoothly.

The other option for Android OS Tv would be the TCL, they are much cheaper than Sony but they are not in Ireland yet, they are spreading slowly through Europe, you can buy them on Amazon online, but then, if you have a problem you will have a big headache to sort it out.

I would say, when support is ended, then buy a Fire Stick 4k for about 40 euro or a Mi Box for bout 60 euro that have an updated Android TV OS, but then if you want the top one get the Nvidia Shield that will last years. Or if you have loads of money, just sell the old and buy a new TV. There are plenty of options out there :)

These TVs are great for the kids room and such. I read reviews and its a you get what you pay for TV. Don't expect much for the price range.

Richer Sounds have a 55" Samsung here for €479 delivered to the ROI:

It's a bit dearer than the Sharp but its a better TV imo and comes with a 6 year warranty. I've bought 2 TVs from Richer Sounds recently and couldn't fault their service so far.
