    Hi folks,

Sister needs a car ASAP. Must be auto, not a barge and something reliable for ferrying the kids about. Budget 2.5-3.5k (nearer the lower end ideally)

I love this and know they’re very reliable in manual but wondering about the auto box https://www.donedeal.ie/view/23768036

Any thoughts? Also considering a Kia Rio auto like this https://www.donedeal.ie/view/23752342

    Thanks a mill
    Tom

I'd go with the Jazz over that model Rio. The Jazz is more modern and better built, it's also roomier.

Thanks, was thinking the same. Is that Jazz worth that price you reckon? There’s very few, if any, in that spec with auto.

    Nissan Micra/March.

Ran a used automatic one for about 5 years. Put high mileage on it and it was reliable.

3k would get you a nice one.

They have a bad reputation as a granny's car but they are actually a good little car.

So little of them around so it's hard to know if it's a reasonable price or not. CVT box on most of these small cars is not a proper auto, they are belt driven and can be a bit whiny at speed.

08 cheap tax mk1 prius could be an option too. Or one on the old cc tax rate if the budget is tight.

There are quite a few ex taxis knocking about though so be mindful of that.

another vote for the micra, my sister has 04 auto and its been bulletproof. her only complaint is its a little under powered.
