Mud flaps newer cars?

Hello

There is two newer cars in our house in recent months -161 &191 neither have mud flaps. The bottom of the cars get dirty extremely quickly and never look clean. Is there a reason newer cars dont have mud flaps? I was thinking of going to halfords and getting some put on but just want to check is there a reason why they are not supplied with cars anymore?

Any ideas/suggestions welcome

Mud flaps specific to the model can be purchased from the main dealers. I'd hazard a guess as to why they are not fitted from new is that people don't ask for them.

They were never a good look and look especially terrible on newer cars imo. They're not all that effective anyway. They'll only prevent the heavier muck (e.g. cow sh!t) from splashing up the sides, but only to some limited extent. And many of them will also scratch and scuff the paint where they are fixed to the car.

Just wash it more often...

Mine were thrown in with the car, I don't even notice them. They probably don't help a huge amount but better than nothing.

Then again there's construction near my house and also at work so one or two trips down a muddy road has the car dirtier than two months of general driving...

Thanks all went back to the dealer and got them fitted. They should keep it alittle cleaner.

I have them on both the cars here, mainly to stop stone chips behind the wheels which they definitely help with. They stop a little dirt but not enough that you'd notice.

Yeah, OEM mudflaps are designed to fit the specific car and look a lot better IMO. But they're always dealer-fitted or aftermarket accessories.
