Mods, don't remove this as it's not a question about medical advice.

Every time I sleep and then wake up in the middle of the night and go right back to sleep 30 minutes to 2 hours later, I experience an intense buzzing in my body that scares me and I have to wake up to turn on the lights.

Some people say it's an OBE or a minor seizure though as usual, Irish doctors think I'm just too anxious and say there's nothing wrong.

Probably some kind of sleep paralysis, it's fairly common.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
Sleep paralysis is when, during waking up or falling asleep, a person is aware but unable to move or speak. During an episode, one may hallucinate (hear, feel, or see things that are not there), which often results in fear.

Morning Mr F! Yeah I've experienced that. No idea what it is and never got any answers. What I can tell you about my own experiences of it are that they occur during periods of extreme stress so that could have something to do with it and also I'm considerably older than you and haven't keeled over yet so I don't think you need to be afraid of the "buzzies'. I know that it's horrible and can be frightening, especially in the wee, small hours, though. Maybe lay off the 'substances' for a while? I know a few of us on here keep nagging you about that but it might be time to pay attention to your body and us old farts of Boards.

    Intense buzzing?

Have you turned off the fleshlight before you fall asleep?
