    Hi,

I bought a load of bareroot hedging about 3 weeks ago with the intention to plant it straight away.

A few days past and i got the flu! Im only starting to come round now and wondering are they gone at this point or is it poissible to still plant them?

they are in bags together and not exposed to light.

    Thanks

Think they should be fine as they're dormant.

Its not an advantage for them to not be exposed to light, they need to be somewhere frost free with some light. If the roots are still damp they should be ok, the point of planting them at this time of year is that they are dormant so its not that easy to kill them. Check they are still damp, tie up the bags again and plant them when you are over your flu.

Well you've nothing to actually lose by planting them (probably be fine if not dried out) but the moment it became clear you'd become indeposed they really should have been heeled in to a bank of soil

Yeah I really should have, thanks for the advice, I'll get to planting them over the next day or two then.

Dig a hole just to keep them in for a while and they will be grand. Just cover over the roots!

When I was in a similar situation a few years ago I stored them in a bucket and just made sure that there was enough water in the bottom to keep them moist. Had to leave them for nearly a month and only lost a few.
