    Hey
I’m looking for advice regarding moving a pipe on my heating system in the attic ,the pipe in question is coming from the expansion / header tank for the stove (gravity feed system ) I need to know if it’s possible for me to move it and not cause any problems with the heating system (ie air locks or not feeding the system) I have attached a picture of what I want to do,new pipe position drawing in blue , TIA

Where to start with that one. I hope there is a proper overflow on the small heating header tank and it doesn't overflow into the water tank below (i have seen this before). If i'm reading picture correctly the 1/2 feed from the header tank is going into the vent pipe. I believe the way these should be plumbed is that the Vent is on the warm side and the feed from the header tank is on the cold side. I would cap that 1/2 inch feed into the vent pipe and re-route the feed into the cold side of the system. The easiest point to feed the water into the cold side of the system is probably in the hot press.

Thanks for your help ,looking like a bigger job than I thought !
Yeah the header tank has never overflowed, it has a 3/4” black
Alkathene pipe at the back of the header tank that I’ve never seen overflowing in 10 years but I do get a bit of pipe hammer when the stove gets very hot .I will have to get a better look at it again to find the cold side to connect into , thanks again

I wouldn't consider it a massive job to be honest.

Basically replace the T-piece on the vent pipe with a straight fitting (310) and route your new supply pipe down into the hot press. If things are plumbed correctly the bottom side of your cylinder heating coil should be the system return, this is where you would fit the T-piece you've removed from the vent pipe.
