Baldness and regrowth

    Hi Lads,

I've been in denial for the past year or so. Unfortunately, I'm going bald or at least beginning to.

My fringe is all but gone and my hair has started to recede quite badly at the sides. The back of my head also seems to have gone slightly thin.

After a few comments from work colleagues, looking at several recent photos and glimpsing at myself on CCTV. I came to wonder If anyone here had success at hair regrowth naturally? I even see quite a number of pills on the market that claim to work.

I'm only 27 so feel quite young to be going bald.

Unfortunately the reality is not as good as you might hope. You're looking at a transplant, minoxidil or finasteride as your best options. All have varying levels of success and health risks, but you could waste years trying different snake oils with no progress

Sorry that your co-workers are commenting on it, it's an easy thing for people to pick on but they'll never understand what it's like until it gets them

Sorry you are struggling with this. I am 46 and certain people are horrible about it especially women, at age 18 a lady loved telling me I was balding.....this has gone on every year in different ways, and this Christmas my sister in law relished on the possibility I am develop a bald spot, not all women are that mean but it's hugely prevalent it's like they see male ageing as comedic and theirs as important.
Sorry to the ladies as there have been plenty of guys comments also but they seem to take less pleasure from telling you.
Personally accept it and consider shaving and just be another bald dude. The alternatives are terrible.

I am 27 and I am greying, I don't think it is that bad because I will look like a wise old Irishman. I hope that I don't go bald as only handsome men can pull off being balled. My father is 62 and his hair is only thinning now and my great grandfather had a full head of hair on his 90th birthday, however my brother is going bald at 37.

Finesteride works. Unfortunately it's not available in Ireland over the counter and some doctors won't prescribe it for hairloss anyway.
I lived in a country where I could buy it over the counter and took it from the age of 32 to about 37 with great success.
There are a lot of scare stories out there about it and it's side effects. My advice would be to try it and if you experience the sides then stop immediately.
Don't go near it if you're trying for kids or about to.
I haven't tried minoxidile yet but it's the only other proven drug, however not as effective.Topical minoxidile is by far the most popular but I'll be starting the oral version from next week

Shave it off. I started losing my hair at 21. Was in denial for a few years, eventually just shaved it off. Best thing I did.
Got confidence back never looked back and even now at 41 I wouldn't want it back if I could.

You had right to tell her you have more hair under your nose than I have on top of my head. They only comment to people that try to hide it, ones you shave it that stops and they all say it really suits you of course they don't really mean it.
