Looking to change from a Ford Kuga to a new one of the above.
Does anyone on here drive any of them and tell me what they think.
I drive 30k a year and its not the family car ..just for me in work

Mazda diesels are very poor on reliability - the DPFs are a problem as Mazda's DPF regen process can and too often does cause diesel to get in the oil. Not good and other stuff goes on them too.

    Id go the XC40 myself.

Bear in mind all modern cars can give issues - but Mazda and diesel is a particular no no.

Mazda back up if you hit issues is also very poor.

Edit - there was a recent thread on main motors forum started by someone who had an issue with their 6 diesel - worth a read.

Unless you are tearing up and down a motorway on those 30k, then get a petrol.

    XC40 is an expensive Focus,
Bmw 1 ?? not sure if this fits in here..?

You must be thinking of a V40 which is now discontinued. XC40 shares zero DNA with the Ford Focus. No Volvo's do anymore.

I'd prob pick XC40 out of that lot. Most unique and won a host of awards. Pricey though.

Biased here but the Vw Tiguan is well worth considering over an X1 or Volvo, standard equipment especially driver aids are well worth it.

Out of curiosity are you considering the new Kuga..... only asking as we are evaluating the same list of cars and the new Kuga looks quite good, however not available until Mar/Apr.

Father in Law has a 181 Mazda CX5 and it's a lovely motor and a great drive with fantastic spec. Only issues he had was a wing mirror that didnt fold properly, but our local dealer fixed it super quick and no other issues since.

My wife has an x1 18d xdrive and its a lovely car. Not sure how comfortable it would be for 30k km a year though. We take it to Cork/Kilkenny etc regularly enough with the kids and it is great.

Quick enough, no problem cruising at motorway speeds, plenty of space etc.

Are the Mazda diesels still a bit iffy?

I found out that the new Kuga only comes with a 1.5 diesel and I'm used to a 2.0 diesel that I have now.
I just think that it won't have enough power for me to be comfortable driving it
Is yours the 1.5 diesel at the moment

Just an update and thanks for all the help to date
Had a look at a mazda and volvo the weekend before my post.
I liked the mazda before I read about the engine problem and I read a lot of complaints about it online after it was mentioned on here so I'm really glad I put it up as a thread.
The mazda is now dropped from my list .
I also looked at the Alteca,3008 and Karoq and Kodiaq but not for me.
I sat in the volvo and was amazed by it to be honest but haven't had a test drive yet.
VW will have to be investigated now and maybe a Q3

If you don’t like the Karoq and Kodiaq, you may not like the Tiguan. Unless it’s the brand that appeals.

    Q3 ?

    Ms

What about the Citroen C5 Aircross? There is also the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage that you could look at.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

That logic can be applied to the Q3 which will probably fall bottom of the list with size and spec over Tiguan/Karoq

Not saying it’s the case here, but people are funny when it comes to brands. They’ll have a list of must-have features or characteristics but will throw that out the window to get into an aspirational brand.

FWIW I think the Tiguan strikes a pretty good balance between desirability and affordability.

I like the XC40. Classy looking.

I spent 30 mins in an XC40 yeserday just trying the seats and the setup of the controls and electronic dashboard.
Very comfortable but car not available until next week to drive.
Sat in a Q3 today very nice in fairness

I done this, same family and all but the Tiguan just felt so much better to drive and interior is nice, like the quirkyness of the skodas though, removable seats and all that. Ordered a Tiguan
