Think the benefits of the new platform at Limerick Jct was to be seen in the next timetable change. There's been a lot of track upgrades/repairs around Mallow and Charlevile over the last couple of months, maybe these will help shave a few mins off. Should be seen a 5-10 min reduction.

Oh please, this is CIE we are talking about. They have been 'improving' the Dublin/Cork line since God was a boy and where are we today?

Does anybody know what the changes will be? Increase in weekend services, cork services sped up?

It'll probably include adding another 5 minutes on to Rosslare services?
Maybe a few later services for the commuters, especially on the Phoenix Park Tunnel.

Barry Kenny was saying, a later service for Wicklow/Wexford was on the cards and been looked into. They could easily advance the 13:33 by an hour to get it back to Dublin earlier to return with a 19:30/20:00 to Wexford and schedule the 16:33 to return back to Dublin.

It may not be this time around but I suspect the NTA will be interested in supporting adding an hour each end to commuter services based on the demand levels publicised for the 24h normal buses in Dublin.

The later Mullingar will be examined for its demand I'd imagine to see if other early ending services could match

Has there been any draft timetable public process as there has been on some other occasions?

I believe Saturday GCD services will be added in this timetable.

Numbers are very low off peak even including extra leisure travel on Saturdays numbers will be still be low plus terminating at Hazelhatch does it no favors.

Any other rumours about what this might mean for Cork/Dublin services?

Anything more for Kilkenny? Could badly do with another commuter AM option as well as a later return from Dublin service. Usage seems to have climbed a fair bit in the past few years

The Carlow services should run to Kilkenny. Not saying it part of the new timetable but it should be fairly simple to implement. Full is the morning Carlow service before it gets to Kildare.

There was an extra CONN - WEX return pencilled into 09/18 WTT, for start in 12/2018 [about 0815 ex - DUB/1145 return M-F]] but didn't make it into 12/18 TT, possibly due to lack of drivers

The current 06.30 comes empty from DUB and I am not sure there is demand for 06.10 ex Kilkenny (current is 06.38).

They could extend the 07.05 into Kilkenny but that would defeat its intended purpose even more than they have done already.

The 20.15 to Carlow should be limited stop and split with one half serving Kilkenny/Waterford returning to the next day at around 09.00.

Hard to see anything major this time round. They need to return to December annual change.

There is plenty of options with Waterford and realistically with the short distance should be relatively easy to implement additional services without needing extra stock as long as they have the drivers.

There is currently 5 set required to run the morning peak on Waterford. I can think of 2 options which would deliver massive improvements.

    1. Overnight all 5 sets in Waterford. A 5.30am ex Waterford skipping Kilkenny and run non stop from Athy would arrive in Hueston in time if the 7.25am ex Dublin could be deferred to 7.45am. This could give a morning peak time service of 5.30am, 6.00am, 6.30am, 7.00am, 8.00am. The 8am set could be used to run a local morning service from Clonmel or Kilkenny to Waterford if there was any demand for it.

    2. Overnight 4 sets in Waterford and 1 in Dublin. Run the Carlow positioning set in service ex Dub 6.20 to Waterford for a 8.30 arrival. Morning Waterford services could then be 6am, 6.30am, 7am, 7.30am & 9am. The 6am ex Waterford can return at 8.30am(ish) Ex Dub instead of the cureent 7.25am and return back to waterford in time for the 11am.

I think a service between 7 and 7.30 am ex Kilkenny would do well, into Heuston before 9 am. Not everyone needs to be in the city so early

The link in the OP is gone and the bookings system is back up for March.

Did IR quietly forget about this?

A lot of people read into the absence of a timetable

There never was a plan for any changes, maybe a minutes here or there but nothing significant enough to justify a new timetable.

There was hold to lock down the engineering works schedule for March and April.
