Derek Acorah the fantastic and entertaining scouse host of Most Haunted is now a ghost himself. The show was great fun and he was great craic.

It's a bit of an extreme way to relaunch the TV show though in fairness...

First Marion and now Derek, how cruel this New Year is
And no mention of poor Qasem Soleimani.

He's not guessing any more, I suppose.

Prefect opportunity for him to prove the bs he was peddling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,395 ✭✭✭Hamsterchops

He used to do a show with Evette Fielding (in the dark), all you could see was their eyes as they seeked out spirits, ghosts & gouls in old haunted houses & castles! Derek would make "contact" and relay messages from the departed.

I found it all a bit silly, while believers loved it.

Mediums are frauds, irrespective of whether they have a successful TV program. Mediums prey on the vulnerable and those grieving for their own financial interests.

What a reprehensible and totally immoral way to earn a living.

    It should be criminal, outright.

At this time, we should spend more time thinking about his victims rather than the perpetrator himself.

I can throw in some magic beans too.

Sorry. Already donated to the Church for eternal salvation. Can you give me the magic beans now and I'll pay you in the afterlife when God rewards me for saying all those rosaries?

I was wondering why I had seen this today

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

The financial motive -- i.e. exploitation by mediums -- is what matters, and it's vile.

Perhaps, but there's a difference between the religion and those practitioners who seek to exploit that for their own financial ends. They, too, belong to the same class of vermin.

Anyone conned out of hundreds or perhaps even thousands of pounds, when perhaps they don't have the means to support that purchase, makes them a victim of a moral crime. There's no two ways about it.

If a "medium" charged your grandmother 500 pounds for a session, don't tell me you'd take it lightly.

My granny would be a gob****e if she paid that. But if she willingly entered that agreement, then it's on her.

Of course they're conned out of it, they pray on the simpletons and the desperate.

Absolutely scummy profession and I'm quite pleased theres one less of the ***** in the world now.

If the person availing of the service enjoys it, then where is the harm. I suppose you feel the same way about every religion too?

Two wrongs don't make a right.

You call it "selling a service".

If you were to purchase a service "not as described", then that is an infringement.

Acorah and others are supplying a "service" which is undeliverable. If it were a legitimate service where they were genuinely channelling the dead, you may have a point.

    But they can't. So, it's a con.

Yeh, your grandmother, go on. Or was it a friend...

How much did you part with? Did it hurt when you sat down?

At least this thread is good therapy for you. You can exorcise all the wrongs done to you.
