Help with alcoholism

    Hi,

Occisional poster on boards. Going incognito.

I have a dependency on alcohol that I fully recognise.

I hold down a full time 9-5 job, never been late from drinking or anything. I was married for a few years but lost it not all due to drink but it was a factor.

I'm one of those quiet fellas whos the belle of the ball when drunk.

Could anybody point me in a direction for help ? Locally Cork I know there are AA groups but does anyone know any individual therapy that might help ? Am willing to pay. Thanks Guys.

I swore left right and centre NYE would be the last Whisky day. Yet here I am again and I'm sick of it and my weakness.

I lack a lot of confidence that shouldn't be warranted. I'm not Brad Pitt but not the Elephant Man either. Good friends, was married, had plenty of girlfriends when I was growing up, have a fantastic family.

I am adopted and have heard of hereditary alcoholism. My late adoptive father had maybe one beer a week and still living mother has never drank a drop in her life.

In no way trying to pass off anything as genetic.

    I need help. <snipped>

My GP is the family GP so would like to go somewhere else.

    Thank you for any advice.
