Hi, we currently have a prepay gas meter with Bord Gais and our Electricty with Bord Gais, we under no contract with Bord Gais. I am looking to switch Energy provider for both, would it be possible to have any charge related to the removal of the gas meter added to our bill?

    Hi barryos1505,

Thank you for your interest in switching to Electric Ireland.

You can revert to bill-pay gas after you have switched to Electric Ireland.

The cost for taking out the gas Pay As You Go meter and installing a bill-pay meter is €199.13. The fee will be applied to the next gas bill.

You can register online here. However, we recommend calling 1850 305 090 in relation to switching for gas in order to avoid any confusion due to the meter being a Pay As You Go meter. They will be unable to set up the direct debit or apply on any savings on the gas account until after the Pay As You Go meter has been removed.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Kind regards.
    Aoife
