Convert Zappi tethered

Ok, bit of a boo boo on my part. So I got a new Zappi installed a few months back with the Outlander. So I have Zappi and Chargemaster.



For some reason, I decided to put in the Zappi with a tethered connection for the eGolf so I can't use for the Outlander. Genius idea on my part


Anyway now I am getting Solar installed and the car that will be getting topped up during the day of course is the Outlander.



I dont want to buy a second Zappi as too expensive and just a waste, any ideas if you can convert a Zappi to untethered?

I need to go the other way? so it is a type 2 and I need to convert to type 1, will this work?

I find it gas'd that even though the physical connectors differ, they appear to use the same protocols. Thankfully.

It really is a pain in ass.....I said that 3 years ago they should just consolidate down to one connection and end the messing.....

Nope thats a type 1 to type 2, shed needs a type 2 to type 1.

Sorry, my bad. From the photo it's not obvious which end is the plug and which is the socket.

Edit: OP, you could buy a Type-1 plug and cable off ebay and rewire. I bought one with a 5-metre cable for £30.

Will that work for me? I have the opposite problem to Shefwedfan, I have a tethered Zappi for the Outlander and now my wife has just got an i3, which needs a... type 2 ? (Wish there was a glossary for all the different standards and jargon ) So the neater (and cheaper) option n97 posted would work, would it?

In theory, yes. Only thing is the i3 might be capable of pulling more power if you wanted

I have one untethered and one tethered. It doesn’t matter with both as cable is always plugged in
