Where did he turn his nose up at to get here? No direct flights like.

He could be a nice chap and all. But there are billions of nice chaps in the world and simple maths tells us that they don't all fit into Ireland.

But that's not going to stop Simon Coveney et al from trying to fit as many as possible on this little Island.
Simon promised diversity in every village and town in the country, and he also talked about the island being able to handle a population of 10 million, so by hook or by crook, he wants it achieved. And to quell our questioning of such non-workable policies (due to our already overburdened services, hospital waiting lists, affordable housing for workers/students etc.), he will have Charlie Flanagan arrest and fine/jail anyone who dares to ask questions .... under the guise of hate speech.

Yes. And the Lizard people in conjunction with the Rand Corporation, under the auspices of George Soros, are distributing mercury vaccines to every school to ensure that Irish people can't reproduce any more.

He came via Turkey. It says it in the article. I reckon it would have been cheaper not to take the second leg of the flight, and he wouldn't be in direct provision, with extra cash in a cheaper country

I know one thing. I wouldn't leave my dog behind let alone my wife and kid. Return to Turkey, first safe country.

His appointment by RTE would raise eyebrows, or an eyebrow in his case.

On the face of it this person and their family seem like just the very kind of people to whom we should offer immediate asylum. Much much more so than any people who rock up as economic migrants, people who fancy a nicer life in Europe at the expense of the state but who were reasonably safe, though perhaps bored, back home on the farm in Albania or Georgia or Nigeria or wherever in their former lives. To me his story is exactly why civilised countries offer asylum and refuge.

I dont quite understand how he could have left his family behind in such mortal danger. I hope they get out safely and soon.

To be honest if ye were being openly chased or threatened by the Taliban you'd want to do your best to get a good bit further than Turkey too.

If you are a soft touch, people will take advantage.

If you are famously a soft touch, people will travel far to take advantage of you.

Word spreads, people turn up at your door with the laimhe out.

It is as simple as that.

Word has spread as far as Afghanistan about Ireland. Think about that, think about the reputation needed for a tiny country to have quite literally a planetary effect.

RTE broadcasts the location of someone who is under death threat from Taliban.

So he left his wife and kids behind and came all the way to Ireland?

Seems he has his head screwed on.

and look at his eyebrows? "beware of those whose eyebrows meet for in their hearts there is deceit"

, old proverb most appropriate. Filthy cowardly man leaving his wife and child in danger and saving himself what a cnut!

    Interesting story.

This could be a cheap and cheerful way of keeping wages down at RTE? :pac:

    Welcome!

mmm You make an excellent point young frog. Cost savings mmm

    Read that story this morning

Jasus he is some spoofer. Some yarn he tells and of course RTÉ lap it up unquestioning.

Can imagine someone at some gov-marketing-spin-quango meeting discussing making Portarlington a twinned city of Kabul.

Probably at the final staging of getting costings for sticking such a sign up at the roundabout.
Tagline at bottom would be 'ack sure who doesn't enjoy a aul spice bag/kebab'.

I have no problem with this guy if his story adds up. I just don't see why we have to take Joe Soap who can just move to a different part of their country.

Asylum was originally meant for well known political leaders, activitists etc.

    When will this stop?

He's admitted himself that the Taliban have threatened his life, yet here we are with arms and doors wide open for him.

Throw in the old sob story about the wife and kid and sure enough they'll be here before the end of the month.

What a truly shambolic, embarrassing country we have become.

Has the word got around the this country is a soft touch if you want to claim asylum, big sob story on the 6.1 news about him, the usual bulls*it interview, and of course not asked why he chose to come to this country, he passed plenty of safe countries before he landed here.

In this case, the most favourable interpretation is that he's a chancer, talking through his hoop.

Doesn't need her over here as there are no minefields for her to walk ahead of him in.

He can't come up with the usual bulls*it, ''payed some traffickers and dident know where he was going'' this fraud had it well planned and knew exactly where he was going.
