I tried to keep count... but after the 5th tray found itself hoovered up, I just gave up counting and enjoyed the thrill of my addiction.

    Tasty little bastards!

3 forced on me. Don't understand the appeal of them.

The Aldi salted caramel (I think) one's were grand I suppose.

Every year I try and get into them but I just don't get it. Cheese and crackers, Heroes and Crisps on the other hand...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,135 ✭✭✭mistersifter

A fair few Mr Kiplings. edit: with Baileys cream.

Still a box of Aldi ones there that won't be touched by me anyway. ****e.

And I just opened another Christmas pudding - the Supervalu one. The absolute business.

A full aldi tray - wasn’t great but better than a biscuit with a cuppa

A plate of them fresh from the oven, with our own homemade mincemeat, in front of me now. You can't have too many.

Freely available, hard to figure out what's exactly in it and provokes an inexplicable addiction in some?

None of that in ours. All homemade - it may be the generous measure of brandy that leaves them moreish.

Didn't eat one of them - they're disgusting

Love the reaction of Americans and visitors from eastern European countries who have not lived here.

They very much expect a savory pie and usually reluctant to try them cold.

    Some unusual reactions.

I love them, usually start buying them in October. But I haven't had any this year. Sticking to my healthy eating and I know if I bought them it would be the ruination of me!

We didn't have mince pies growing up and I always thought they were some kind of pie filled with mince meat. I thought they sounded great until I discovered it's actually some kind of fruit. No thanks. I've never had them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,631 ✭✭✭Day Lewin

I never liked them cos I really don't likepastry. And that mincemeat out of the jars is fairly boring.

Then I discovered how to make brown crisp flaky pastry; and then, to put together some home-made mincemeat with plenty of fruits, spice, orange and lemon rind and a dollop of booze.

Wow, transformation!! I'd eat them all day now only they are so fattening!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,310 ✭✭✭phormium

I normally love them and make loads each Christmas, I made about 60 this year and only ate one, for some reason I just didn't want them!

    4 of us here.
We make our own puddings which we’ve eaten 2 and a half at this stage.

Girls made 2 dozen mince pies which disappeared along with 4 boxes from Aldi.

Large Balies trifle the Mrs made is gone too.

    Plus allot of cream.
