I have an old TV - about 10 years. All of a sudden wouldn't turn on, not getting power.

I haven't opened it yet to check if there is something visibly wrong.

My question is is there a common cause of this? Telly isn't really worth anything but I'd like to give it to my gf if I could get it working as she needs a new one. So it's actually worth the price of a new TV!

Any common causes. Checked plugs/fuses etc and all ok externally.

First thing to check would be the fuse in the plug top.

What type of tv is it?

Open it and check the power control board.

I've replaced capacitors before simple. Few cents and back working.

    If all fails
I've gotten some great deals on televisions from LaptopsDirect.ie
Saved €420 compared to currys for two 32" and one 28" Samsung LED televisions last year
The 32" were €150 cheaper than currys each and the 28" was €120 cheaper than currys
Currys then were cheaper than D.I.D or Harvey Norman's which your paying for finance as part of purchase price

LaptopsDirect ship via Dpd arrives in three working days

As stated in the op, externals have been checked and are fine.
