Laptop recommendation - Beginner video editing

I'm looking at starting to do a bit of video editing - My current laptop couldn't run the open source Da Vinci Resolve properly so I haven't really gotten into the details of what I'm trying to achieve yet. I'm really just looking for something to mess around with to see if it's something I'd enjoy doing as a hobby.

If there are cheaper alternatives that would do the job well I'm open to it. I'm not married to the idea of getting a core i7 and the i5's do seem a good bit cheaper. The Lenovo s340 price (659 euro) would be the most I'm willing to pay though. I'm not concerned about 4k (not at this price range anyway!)

about as good as you'll get for the money.

you may consider upgrading to 16gb ram down the line. a 16gb sodimm to replace your 8gb one is 60 euro now (big drop in ram prices in the last while) so not an expensive upgrade

should handle 1080p video in an ok manner.

there is only 1 slot in laptop

you should get 25/30 euro selling your old 8gb sodimm stick on something like adverts so the actual upgrade cost is even less

Will 3rd party video editing software work on that laptop though?
Not too familiar with it but thought Windows S only allows software from the windows store?


EDIT: Looks like it's fairly trivial to switch out of S mode.
