I have a 2015 diesel superb which needs an oil change.
I'm planning on doing it myself for the first time.
I bought the car in May from a main dealer so it's not due a service till then.
Do I need to change the oil filter?
If so where is the filter on them. Some reading I'm doing suggests under the engine cover. Others say under the engine.
    I do about 500km a week.
I've ordered an extraction pump to take out the oil.

    Thanks

Edited to read oil not fuel filter!

The fuel filter is recommended every 90k kms by VW in those. It's very accessible behind the drivers side headlight. Be careful though, iirc it needs to be bled through a diagnostic tool ideally.

VW dont recommend recommend the use of a vacuum pump for oil changes. Make sure you get the right low ash oil.

If OP got this work done in a VW dealership would he qualify for VW's "free loaner replacement car in the event of a breakdown" deal ? ( asking for a friend )

Water pump went under warranty and I got a replacement car under the breakdown assist.

Big Edit: I just realised I said Fuel filter in my OP, I should have said Oil Filter!!

No. But Skoda do the same offer, if you service with them. All the brands offer it but it's not transferable between them.

Do you know if that is a seperate scheme to the VW one - or is it the case that the one scheme covers all VAG brands ?

Think you should plan on a new oil filter to go with the new oil :D

Ideally yes .But if change it and fill it up with diesel should be ok . Recently did fuel filter on vw cc that say you need diagnostic to run diesel pump to bled it i didn't bother plugging it in had no problems .

Just fill the fuel filter before fitting.... Job done.

Not too difficult to do an oil / filter change on the Octavia's / Superb's. Forget about the vacuum method.....you have to go underneath to get at the oil filter anyway. So you will need a good jack and some axle stands. There are some cable's that need to be moved out of the way, to get access to the filter. There is a plastic centre bolt on the filter, remove that, and the fiter oil will drain, then you will need a filter wrench / chain / strap to remove the filter housing. The sump drain stud is easy to get at, but make sure you have a replacement washer, just in case you will need it. It goes with out saying, that in order to access the underneath of the engine, the front under trays have to be removed. But they are not very difficult, just be careful that you don't get dust or grit in your eyes. I
