Villa with Gated Pool

Hi all


We're researching the family holiday for summer 2020 but this year have a new condition of needing a gated pool to keep two little ones safe. We are looking for 4 bedrooms, either in Portugal or Spain (no particularly strong feelings either way) - the main thing is the gated pool. Lots of booking sites to use of course but a filter for 'gated pool' is missing from most and its a slow business trawling through one by one checking for this...


Has anyone any experience of a villa they'd like to share? Or a recommendation for a good site to search for this particular requirement?

I notice in recent years there has been a move away from pool gates on holiday rentals. They give a false sense of security, nearly every tragedy I’ve heard of involved an unlatched pool gate. Or climbing over the gate/fence.

It’s compulsory in France and Parts of Spain like Andulcia to have fences and gates around pools

No it’s not.

You have to have security, which most people have put an alarm that detects if something falls in the water. I think these are rubbish.

I have a retractable cover which meets the specification, but I don’t trust it with kids. When we rent it out we recommend to leave the pool open when kids are around and keep a close eye on them.

Also most management companies can provide a temporary fence around the pool for a fee. But you’d need to email and ask, seashell.pt do this

Noticed a few of their places had kid safety pools etc, worth a look if you know where & when you want to go
