Any one suitable for personal use - Have 200 bags and some are fairly wet / have been spreading out to dry etc but need new blower / mulcher vac anyway.

Just asking in case anybody has any ideas - my electric one is nearly whacked - maybe petrol? Thanks

I have used lawn mower as well but looking for other solutions too. Thanks

It would probably be more effective and sustainable to leave the wet leaves in the bags to rot down in the time-honoured way. Wet them all and you will have 200 bags of fine leaf mould next year. Why go to all the trouble of trying to dry them in order to mechanically chop them up?

sounds like a lot of work to unbag 200 bags of leaves to shred them?
if you've the space (permanently) to store 200 bags, might be worth looking at creating pallet bins for that purpose?

    Yeah Magic I know.

But I have two objectives - One to get mulch for beds and two to make leaf mold.

So I decided that there is no blower / Vac that could compete with petrol lawn mower.

Have done about 60 bags - Spread out on grass and turn and shake every few hours - Took me back to my youth turning and shaking the hay with pitchfork in West of Ireland - Not many doing that now I would say.

Try post a couple of pics if I can - Includes some I had shredded earlier when they were dry with blower.

Second plan is to make a load of leaf mold - I do intend to shred it - maybe up to 4 times to try and get it done in maybe 5 or 6 months - Thought I might try and pick up one of those ton skip bags or sand bags from a building site.

    Happy New Year

if you got a ride on mower, just a few passes over might do the trick

I have a bit of time so working my way through them with that mower in picture - Mountfield SP 185 - It's a flyer.

My technique is to raise it on it's back wheels and drop it down on leaves and pull it back towards you - pisses through them and gives a good fine mulch - I do not even use the mulching attachment - think it clogs it up - empty the container into a bag ... 10 bags gives about 3 bags of mulch - rake up the bits that are left and spread out the next 10 bags to dry out a bit - 10 days will nail the lot I would say - missus thinks I am raving nuts talking about this 'Gold Dust' ...
