standard latitude laptops go from ide, sata, msata, m.2 etc.

what is the model, then someone can help you out.

also the old drive would need to be cloned to the new drive or windows reinstalled to the new drive.

240gb is very small for a laptop that only has one drive.

    Good deal though

What kind of enclosure could I use to make this an external drive? Or is that a stupid question?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Dunno I could live with smaller on a laptop. Only used for office stuff.

My desktops though need 4TB+ for games and media.

Ssd isn't a good choice for an external, the benefit is the speed. If you're just looking for storage get a standard drive

Via USB 3 it doesn't suffer much of a performance penalty.

I used my old ssds in usb 3 enclosures. I find it's much faster than flash drives and I don't get the stuttering, buffering I sometimes get with mechanical drives when watching media plugged into a TV or similar.

That said a new mechanical drives are fast enough of it's just for storage.

Look for usb 3 or 3.1

Not all these enclosures have good controller boards some are better then others. Some of mine work with some TVs and not with others. Never figured out why. Might be power draw related.

The cheapest it's ever been from Amazon is £23.99. So, factoring in the Amazon Irish VAT adjustment, buying from the 7dayshop Ebay site beats any previous Amazon price. :)

As long as it's not stopped by customs then you might save a few cents
I'd stick with Amazon and ease of return in case of fault (common enough on SSD)

The last two SSDs I recently ordered from 7DayShop were sent from CH-8424 Embrach, Switzerland. Both came in separate packets 3 days later and fit through the letterbox. My previous orders such as AA/AAA batteries came from Guernsey.

Their after sales seem pretty good based on when I had a battery charger go faulty a year ago. I sent pictures showing the fault and they sent a replacement and said to recycle the defective one. On the other hand, I'm not sure if they would do the same with a defective SSD.

Another external option for TV use or just holding bulky files would be this 256GB USB 3.1 flash drive for £21.99:
