Two questions really. As above my 2011 Insignia boot won't open. Will swopping the fuse trip the lock to open ? Or is there some other way to open it without having to crawl into the boot and look for a catch or similar to prize the lock open ?

There is a little tab on the boot door which is in the middle of the gap between the boot door and the boot sill. Get in the boot via the folding seats and push the tab to the right. That’ll open the boot.

It’s most likely that you have a broken switch.

If fuse to boot was gone, I think you’d have no central locking either.

Thanks Colm_mcm, I was hoping a fuse was the way around it, will try the crawl in option in the morning.

Happened to my insignia, an easy enough fix. Think I paid less than €20 for a replacement switch and it took 15 minutes to replace.

Were you able to do it yourself or were any special tools needed ?

I was, not that I remember. Possibly just a torx screwdriver.

Mighty stuff, thanks for that. Have ordered a replacement unit online for €17 so will wait for that to arrive and see how it goes.

The other issue that happens the insignias is the wiring to the boot door breaks in behind the rubber boot thats on the top left side of the boot lid when its opened.

If the micro switch doesn't fix it check the wiring there.
