Howdy all looking for suggestions so please help

So I have decided its time to replace my current 2009 a4 have had nearly 7years and just feel like a change kids are getting bigger.

Main criteria if possible room in the rear for 3 kids im open to something older but with a higher spec than newer and poverty spec im not interested in Ford Galaxys etc

Would love to go automatic this time as i love the dsg box in my friends vrs octavia

Changed jobs lately so i only have a 25km commute every day and do about 12-15k km a year.

Have been looking at the Seat Leon fr estate but the rear room isnt as big as i would like Skoda Superb estates are probably out of my price range.

Lets have your ideas thanks guys

What age are your children? It's going to be very difficult to find a standard type car that will fit 3 kids across the back seat comfortably. They really are not designed for that.

Cheers for the reply they are eight six and four I know it's a hard thing I'm looking for .
Have looked at the Mazda 6 estate previously lovely car but the engine problems put me off.
Renault Mégane estate isn't big enough and I just do notv like the Avensis estate.
As I probably won't be able to change the car for a few years again I want to buy something that will keep me happy if possible I'm coming from a 120bhp A4 so want an upgrade on that as well haha

Keep in mind Octavia wheelbase is 4 inches longer than Leon.
Not sure I’d be putting 3 kids in the back though.

I have an Octavia Combi and the brother has a Mk2 Superb, apart from legroom, there’s not much between them size wise. Width difference in the back is 2mm

Superb is a great family car though

You’ve said standard car, so apologies for going off track with this, but I went checking some other numbers after seeing the images above. If you want to fit 3 kids then a ’real’ people hauler is a way better option. Even without going for the galaxy-sized ones.

Like for like comparison from here:
    https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/files/live/sites/vwuk/files/pdf/Brochures/touran-dimensions.pdf

says 1518mm rear seat width for a Touran compared to 1451mm for the Superb. But only 12mm wider externally.

67mm is a fair bit of elbow room...

How about a volvo estate such as the V70, great spec cars and offer serious value second hand. Here's a 2011 for under €11k but probably better look for a bigger engine than the 1.6 petrol
    https://www.adverts.ie/car/volvo/v70/volvo-v70-2011/19443960

I've had an S60 petrol for the past 5-6 years and a S40 petrol before that and both have proved pretty reliable despite being older cars with decent mileage. I wouldn't mind tryin an S90 hybrid but very difficult to get second hand petrols in the country thanks to governmental tax policies.

Is it really a 1.6 petrol auto with €390 tax?
I know the T4 is 1.6 but surprised the tax is that cheap.

Well god knows what that one is. Doubt it’s Irish anyway with Japanese or Chinese written on the display on the instrument cluster. I would avoid that one anyway.

You'd get an E-Class Estate for that money.

In love those V70's for some odd reason, but no way would I have the 1.6.

Anything to be on the lookout with them i know window regulators etc always go on them im not concerned my work commute is 15min each way so once it drives it would do me We have another car in the house anyway.

My thinking is if its survived this long it cant be that bad most things must have been replaced by now:pac:

I see you like the dsg, avoid the 7 speed dry clutch mated with the 1.6 diesel. I just replaced mine at massive cost after 150k apparently it's common for them to fail also egr give trouble on them.

To be fair, it’ll likely see you through for a while. Most of the common faults are well known.

I’m finding the Leon ST has plenty of space in the back for 3 kids actually - 11yr old, 10yr old and a car seat for a 2yr old. Decent space in the back for 3 was one of the main criteria for going with it. :)
