JD 6320 Forward/Reverse Shuttle Issue

I was putting in silage yesterday evening as I turned the knob to switch on the lights on the bottom left under the steering wheel, the Forward/Reverse shuttle popped back to neutral and its stayed there since. Its not clicking when you move it to its forward position or reverse, there is no resistance. Its a premium model so it has the orange electrical shuttle lever to the left of the wheel.

I was assuming it was something electrical, connected to the lights in some way since that seemed to cause the problem, but I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. The tractor still starts as it should, it just cant be put into gear. The fans, lights and dash lights are also all not working so they must be connected. Could there be a relay issue?

I tried to look through the diagnostics and went though the 3 options using the indicator but from what I could see there are no codes showing up. But I could be doing this wrong to be honest. According to the manual, codes should appear on the bottom left but there were none there. Any ideas?

I recken it maybe a main fuse or possible a broken connection . What part of the country are you located. I am in the midlands and know a few good JD mechanics that would get you going.

Hi Heff, contacted TFM in Tuam today and the mechanic talked me through a few possibilities. Turns out it was one of the two main 80amp fuses just above the battery if you know them. It had completely melted. What caused it I don't know, but I replaced it and cleaned the terminal best I could and I'm back moving again now. It'll probably need a new terminal in time. Glad it wasn't something more serious.

Have you a dead man switch on it? If it's shorting somewhere a fire is a possibility.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
