Delighted for him, brilliant running. It's a pity we don't see more of the traditional road race distances anymore like 4 mile, 5 mile etc

1992 is not that long ago, really. The 1980s was where we really started to push on, and into the 1990s.

I think Ray Flynn's mile and 1500 metres records are standing for well over 30 years now, and these are distances that would be more challenged than a 4 mile road race.

Great Running thats a serious time

Why is there no 5 mile time down and anyone hazard a guess at it ?

Lots of fast times this week. Athenry 10k had a great race upfront http://www.redtagtiming.com/results/FoA2019.pdf

Amazing to think really despite all the advances in sports science, sports nutrition, running shoes and apparel.
While there are a few outliers the strength and depth of fields are well below that of 20 years ago..

There are still a good number of 4 and 5 mile races on in the Tipp, Waterford Cork area every year. No sure about rest of the country.

Very few in my neck of the woods. The ones that still exist are on hilly routes and not supported in good numbers compared to 5 and 10km races

    That is a pity really.
I have to say 4 mile was one of my favorite distance to race.
All metric distance now I suppose,
