    Hi
Driving home xmas eve in my Peugeot 308 the following the following - warning: engine fault repair needed.
Its 2012 but i will have it 2 years in May. So far i have had to replace the 4 engine filter at a cost of 2000.
    The oil level is fine.
The Peugeot garage is closed over xmas.
I am back in work in a few days.
The car is driving fine appart from the warning.
    Any ideas.
Can not afford to spend more money .

Is the car driving with a loss of power or any odd noises? Without a fault reader the issue would be literally anything.

Ignoring a warning like that is a bad idea. Don’t drive it at all unless you’re prepared to write off the car in the process.

You need to get a mechanic to check it out for you. Doesn’t have to be Peugeot, but needs to be a real mechanic with suitable diagnostics equipment.

Bad time of year for car trouble. Hope you find someone to help out. Where in the country is the car located now? Folks may be able to suggest someone to have a look.

Is it a diesel? Shorts drives could be the reason.

Give us a bit more info please to help. Did the warning only come up once, or has it happened a few times and you've kept driving it now over the holidays?

What's the engine capacity (1.5, 1.6L etc) and is it petrol or diesel? Important info to know.

Was there a Check Engine Light showing before this particularly fault message, even intermittently, before this current one showed up?

I expect most garages will have the day off tomorrow. If you're badly stuck, you could try to get in touch with Daltons in Portlaoise tomorrow (send them an SMS in the morning), as they might be back on Friday.

Maybe someone else can suggest someone closer to home that could be of help in the meantime. I'd hold off putting any miles at all on the car until you're told it's okay to drive it. The last thing you want is to have a timing belt or chain skip a tooth and wreck the top end, or similar sort of problem. Without any diagnosis, you shouldn't assume it's just a glitch, as tempting as it may be.

In your OP you said you had to replace 4 engine filter, but that description doesn't make sense. Any way you can better describe what it was that happened and needed to be replaced? When was that work done? If it's recent, contact whoever did that work also, as they may be the ones that need to correct an issue now related to that repair. Just something to keep in mind as it does happen.

My brother had a similar problem with his Citroen Picasso he inflated the tyres to the correct pressure and his problem was sorted. It could be worth a try !.

    Huh???

I know French cars were notorious years ago for electrical faults and issues but that's a new one.
