    Hi guys
Im putting together a build at the minute and im struggling to decide on the CPU, i have it down to the 2700 or the 3600. The PC will be for mixed use, a bit of gaming (i mostly game on console) and a bit of photo/video editing. with that in mind would the 2700 be the one to go for with its 2 extra cores? Slightly faster base clock and being cheaper by about £50. Or is there something im overlooking that would make me chose the 3600?

    Thanks in advance

I had same ponder a few months back with my new build. I always try to get the best I can't really afford.

I was going to have a 3800 but then you could possibly be into water cooling.

So I stepped it down to a 3700 which was at time reduced to £295.00 with the Wrath Prism RGB cooler. I added a 'be quiet Dark Rock cooler and sold the Wrath on Donedeal.

So I got the max cores and happy that I can do all.

I played for 5 weeks and got sick of wasting my life.

Havent found any probs as of yeat after nearly 3 months.

It's hard to say for your use case but they done big improvements with the 3rd gen chips so much so I will be purchasing a 4700X when it's released next year as they are promising even more improvements. I currently have a 3700X.

    3600 or 3600X if it's cheap enough.
Only reason to buy 2700 is to save money.

Definitely the 3600, way better for games and still excellent for video editing

Cheers for the help lads the price difference is about £50 or €60 is the 3600 really that much better in this use case? Im trying to justify the extra cost but on paper the 2700 to me would be the better all rounder for mixed workloads. What makes the 3600 a better buy? Hope i dont seem ungrateful i genuinely want to understand it.

The 3600 is better for gaming as the performance for core is considerably better. Obviously the 2700 is better for video/editing but the 3600 is no slouch either. Just depends on what you are doing. If you are doing 70% photo/video editing then the 2700 makes more sense, but even in a 50/50 build I would take the 3600 myself as the 3600 tends to have better average and minimum framerates in games. And as a 6 core 12 thread processor it's still really good for video editing either.
