New Year build

Hi All,

I'm considering getting the below build in the new year as my previous build was put together in 2013 and nothing is really salvagable. Are there any glaring issues with it (I know motherboard will need bios update)? Am I paying way over the top? I'll be looking to pickup an occulus down the line and am also hoping to play outerworlds, far cry 5 and new titles from bethedsa over the next couple of years at max settings.

I wouldn't bother with 4k/60Hz. 27" 2k/144hz would give you a better gaming experience imo. A lot of games won't even run at 60fps solidly at 4k on max settings. I'd sooner have double the framerate, with the better response times and motion clarity that comes with that, instead of double the resolution.

You could get a regular 5700 as well if you want to save a decent chunk of money for only slightly less performance. This is the best price/performance card you can get atm.

I bought this monitor recently and it's a bargain for what it is. 10 bit IPS panel, great colours, 95hz freesync 30-95hz range. Losing some refresh rate compared to much more expensive ones but the panel is top notch. Stand is not adjustable but it's very solid and you can Vesa mount np. A great match for the 5700 as most modern games get around 100 fps on max settings with it at 1440p.

Q300L isn't a good case.
RAM should be bought in dual-channel kit for best performance - 3600MHz is sweet spot for Ryzen.
Gigabyte GPU is as good as the Pulse while being cheaper.
Samsung 860 Evo is overpriced for a SATA SSD.

I have one query for this if anyone could help! I've installed everything as per manual for the above build and I'm not getting any video output. Led light is red on boot and I think issue is the GPU. PSU came with a psie with two 6 plus 2 connections and GPU has one 6 plus 2 connection. I assume I just need to get a psir with a single 6 plus 2 connection or 8 pin connection or am I missing something?

Did you Plug the video cable into the graphics card (not the motherboard)?

Will post a photo this evening. Yes, I did plug it into the GPU. The board doesn't have integrated graphics. I'm relatively sure it's a cable issue but surprised the psu didn't come with it so was curious if anyone has had this issue before.

On the off chance that this arises for anyone else the split cable is fine for 8 pin slot, cable was just defective and all is working now. I think there might be a slight loss of power on the splitter but nothing that would impact the card in a meaningful way.
