A family member has been working full time for past 6 months , he has recently been offered a part time contract, at no stage has he worked part time in past few months, and will be expected to carry on full time hours for forseeable future.

He was told he needs to sign the contract asap, but is hesitate. Feels like employer is trying to pull a fast one in relation holidays and garuntees.

    Any help would be appreciated

Fairly common for places to only offer limited hours contracts while actually offering more hours to work. It means if business slows hours can be reduced.

Holiday pay will be based on hours worked, I think it’s 8%, and not contracted hours.

With less than 12 months service the employee can be let go for any reason so the options are to sign or risk being fired.

Since March 4th 2019 there is legislation relating to banded hours now. His contract should reflect that.
