This was a long time ago now, but does anyone remember how on one Late Late show there was an older gaa legend (manager or coach or something) who said that thinking back over his life it makes perfect sense that he was actually gay the whole time? It was totally bizarre, I think he was even married. Anyone know whatever happened to him?

His name was Timmy Ryan, a legendary U12 hurling coach from Limerick.

It was after Donal Og, a few years ago. They were talking about mental health, lad culture and bottling things up, especially sports people. It was this old gaa guy who had been married and he was thinking that he had actually been repressing homosexual thoughts and that things would make a lot of sense if he was gay all this time. I didn't know if he was having some kind of breakdown or something, it was very weird and he seemed a bit off but that made it slightly funny. I googled him at the time but found nothing strange, I just wish I could find him again, see what happened to him.

It was Donal Og Cusack from what I reemeber.
I think it was in October 2009 just after Ryan took over The Late Late.
It was well known in Cork before hand.

Doesn't sound like him from the description. Donal wasn't married.

Well it doesn't really ring a bell with me.
Donal og was the first openly gay GAA player.
The only other sporty person that I know who was married and then came out was the Welsh rugby guy Gareth Thomas.
