Stupid question - can you paint a fridge?

Our lovely steel/chrome Siemens fridge freezer died recently and the landlord replaced it with a horrible white one, leaving our kitchen looking like a student flat.

Can you paint a fridge or would it end up looking even worse? First world problem, I know, but I absolutely hate the look of it.

It's the landlords, so not without permission from him first of all.

That said, anything can be painted with the right prep.
Painting it and ensuring a durable finish is a little tougher tho.

Don't paint it as is likely that it'll not turn out very well.

Instead you can vynal wrap it cheaply...

It's a family member so very unlikely to be an issue. I've actually asked them if they meant to order a white one as I just assumed they'd replace like with like. Really hoping Curry's just delivered the wrong colour by accident!

Sell it and buy a silver one

    Ask them first. Don't assume.

    Probably better to wrap it,
If your on Amazon or Ebay look for 3M vinyl wrap
The good stuff has micro channels in it to best prevent bubbling when fitting.

As a tenant you don't own the fridge so you only have the use of it.

You shouldn't paint or wrap it or modify it in any way.

Are you sure a white fridge makes your place look like a student flat?

Maybe it just looks like a lot of peoples kitchens.

Maybe it does or doesn't look like a lot of people's kitchens, but it doesn't look like our kitchen used to and I hate it.

As I said, the landlord is an immediate family member. I can't see them having an issue with us wrapping the fridge but if they do I'll tell them thanks very much, we'll put this one into storage and buy a new one. They called in today and were a bit "Oh god, it's not very nice, is it?". I don't think it's what they were expecting themselves.

OK it's clear you hate the fridge.

Best to just clear it with them first to avoid any confusion and unnecessary expense.

Wrap can be peeled off, can't it?

    It's probably the best solution.

Wrapping is temporary and can be returned to original state no problem. Could do a really nice job on it too, options are endless. I don't like white appliances either so see where you are coming from, all my appliances are grey/silver and are much nicer
